Policies and Procedures
HOURS OF OPERATION
Appointments are currently offered Thursday-Saturday, starting as early as 10am. Appointments are available to start as late as 5:30pm, and we’ll stay until the job is done! Appointment times outside of these start times are available upon request.
HOW TO SCHEDULE AND/OR CHANGE YOUR APPOINTMENT
While calling the salon is an option, the best way to get a direct response in the most timely manner is to send me a text message or email. Text messages will receive same-day responses. Emails will be responded to within 1 day. Calls to the salon will be responded to within 1-3 days. There is also online booking available on my website.

As a new client, or as an established client making drastic changes to your hair, it is encouraged to schedule an in-person Consultation, but if you ever wish to have a Consultation via text message, please have photos prepared to send. Required photos include: one or more of your current hair, and one or more of your desired look. Please make sure the photo of your current hair is up to date (taken within the week), has direct lighting, and showcases your hair more than anything else (no selfies, or distant full body shots). A photo of the back of your head is perfectly acceptable.
POST SERVICE ADJUSTMENTS
I take pride in, stand by, and guarantee the quality of my work. If you are ever unsatisfied, I would like you to consult and communicate with me. Together, we will come up with a solution. While refunds are not offered, complimentary Post Service Adjustments are available upon request. Please Note:
You must contact me within 7 days of your original appointment, and I will be happy to provide you with an adjustment in order to achieve your satisfaction.
Receiving services from another Stylist, or attempting any at-home hair cutting/coloring, will void your right to claim a Post Service Adjustment. This would be considered a new service to be charged full price.
Choosing a different desired look is not considered an adjustment, and will be considered a new service to be charged full price.
You will ALWAYS receive a Confirmation Text and/or Email 3 days prior to your scheduled appointment. If you need to change your appointment in any way, PLEASE RESPOND TO THIS MESSAGE IN A TIMELY MANNER, as this ensures that your Stylist is properly prepared for your session.
CANCELLATIONS, APPOINTMENT CHANGES, AND NO-SHOWS
Your appointment is very important to me, and I always hope you are able to keep your scheduled time. However, I also understand that life happens. Sometimes you may need to make changes to your schedule, or changes to the services that you need. Please try to do so in a timely manner. Please familiarize yourself with the following policies:
Cancellations must be done within 48 hours of your appointment. Any cancellations made less than 48 hours of the appointment may result in being charged 50% of the scheduled service(s) at the discretion of the Stylist.
Appointment changes must be done within 24 hours of your appointment.
Any changes to the scheduling (changing your appointment from this week to next week) that are done less than 24 hours of the appointment may result in being charged a $25 Convenience Fee at the discretion of the Stylist.
Any changes to the desired services (changing your 3 hour Color Appointment to a 1 hour Haircut Appointment) that are done less than 24 hours of the appointment may result in being charged a $25 Convenience Fee at the discretion of the stylist.
“No-Shows” are unacceptable. By receiving a confirmation message, you have plenty of time to cancel/change your appointment. Clients who don’t show up to their appointments without contacting their Stylist will be charged 99% of the amount of their scheduled service(s) as allowed by the state of California.
This policy is not to deter you from pre-booking your appointments. During certain times of the year, there is a waitlist for certain day/time slots, and this policy was created so there is enough time to schedule clients from the waitlist in the event of a last minute cancellation.
CLIENT PROFILES AND ONLINE BOOKING
As of June 15th, 2019, ShearMegan will have an Online Appointment Book. This is to establish the highest level of efficiency with scheduling, confirmation messages, and client records. Along with an Online Appointment Book, clients will now have a Client Profile. This will be a private page that only you and your Stylist will be able to access. This page will include contact information, credit or debit card information, color formulas, and notes on haircuts and products used during the appointment. Saved cards on file will be used to charge the client in the event of a Cancellation or No-Show as noted above. If you attend your scheduled appointments, you will not be required to use the card on file. You may still pay in Cash, or use another card. However, saving a card on file will be a requirement for all clients in order to reserve the appointment.

SPECIAL EVENTS STYLING
An updated pricing menu is always available on ShearMegan.com. Policies for special events, and travel fees are as followed:
A nonrefundable deposit is required for all special event parties, and must be made 30 days prior to your service date. Deposit amounts will be based off your ticket value.
As of January 2020, Traveling to venues or on-site locations will no longer be available. All special events styling must be scheduled and received at the salon.
SALON PRODUCT CHOICES AND AT HOME HAIRCARE
As a licensed Cosmetologist, I choose to use Redken, Matrix, and Joico for my lightening and color services. During all of your appointments, I also use shampoos and conditioners that are free of sulfates and parabens, and pH balanced, for the health of your hair and scalp. I highly recommend that you choose to use similar products at home. This will promote healthy hair/scalp, and increase the longevity of any chemical service you receive (color, lightening, keratin smoothing, etc.).

MY RELATIONSHIP WITH THE SALON
My coworkers and I are all independent Cosmetologists, licensed under the state of California. While we all take pride in being apart of the same salon-family, we also take pride in running our own businesses. Any procedures and policies listed above are only that of ShearMegan (AKA Megan Christine - Cosmetologist). Any questions or concerns you have, may be presented to me directly.
